Hello and welcome!
I'm a polenta-loving, hamburger eating, Marvel movie watching, Aretha Franklin fan who's fulfilled a lifelong dream to have lightning bolts next to my name in my latest young adult fantasy book The Dangers of Being Brave & True.
I love writing songs, novellas, novels, short stories and to-do lists. Whatever the genre, I hope to transport you to young adult fantasy worlds you'll love, alongside tween and teen fantasy book characters you can relate to.
When I'm not writing or reading or staring into space (aka working on what fantasy I'll write next), I'm hanging with my family, watching any kind of science fiction or fantasy movie, listening to music or traveling.
(Writing as J.M. Goldie and Jan M. Goldie)

“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

- I started writing creatively when I was 10 years old and haven’t stopped since. Many of the snippets I’ve written are hidden in a bottom drawer or long discarded. But others have started off as teeny, tiny ideas in the middle of the night and grown into enormous, fantastical worlds and full length novels. I’ve learned many things on my writing journey, but three stick in my mind and guide my writing every day:
- 1 ~ Get your idea down on paper/device as soon as it pops into your head. Whether it’s 4am or in the middle of an important meeting, write it down. 2 ~ Share your writing with others. Having the courage to get critique from fellow writers in a local writing group could be your first big step forward. Fantastic mentors and patient writing friends are essential. 3 ~ Don’t listen to that dopey voice in your head that says you can’t do it. Put the doubt in time out! You got this!
